Gas Space Heaters: What You Should Know

Natural gas space heaters are systems that heat rooms in a home or other area without venting carbon monoxide to the home's interior. The oxygen needed to generate heat combustion is taken from the air inside the room. Heat is vented back directly from the unit into the room. Since most heating systems exchange air with the outside, much of the heat is lost in the process. The combustion system used for these heaters, make ventless systems more efficient than units which do not exchange air in this manner.

Oxygen is required to be present in the air to be able to create flames. Therefore, no fire is ever completely ventless. The systems use ductless and chimney-less technology so that heat is vented into the room.

Gas heaters are known to burn more efficient than pellet or wood-burning units. The average efficiency is 99.9%. In addition, it is one of the cleanest burning options available. There is no need to clean out coals and ash and it is generally self-cleaning. Natural gas produces fewer harmful emissions than other fuels, as it burns the fuel source consistently.

Fireplaces come in different styles to suit various home decors. The units can be added to any room to create the warmth needed for comfort. An added benefit is that the unit can also be a decorative element while bringing about a cozy atmosphere. Propane is supplied from a tank outside the home and natural gas is usually delivered by the city's infrastructure via pipes that are run into the home.

The units come in different sizes, each with a rating that shows the amount of energy consumed and how much heat is provided. This heat is measured in BTU. The BTU figure will determine the size of the room it should be installed in for best functionality. Installing a high-output device in a small room, thinking that it will bring about more heat, is not a realistic expectation.

The fireplace can be used when central heating is unavailable due to power outages. However, most manufacturers of these systems recommend that users use them only as a secondary source of heat. It seems that natural Gas Space Heaters are a great addition to any home.
